The Governance Framework defines the processes and culture that guide the activities of Derwent Valley Council beyond our basic legal obligations.

The aim of the Governance Framework is to contribute to good governance and good decision making.

The Framework defines how Council acts and makes decisions in the best interest of the community within its powers defined by law, and also its own internal policies and procedures.

The Framework is based around 4 principles:

  • Principle 1: accountable & transparent

  • Principle 3: participatory, equitable, inclusive & consensus oriented
