Rates

Your rates bill is made up of general rates and other charges.

Both general rates and Fire Protection Service Charge are based on each rateable property’s valuation. The valuation that Council uses to calculate rates is the ‘Assessed Annual Value’ (AAV) of the property. The AAV is determined by the Tasmanian Valuer General and is based on the estimate annual income the owner would obtain from renting the property.

The items in your rates bill include:

Rates payments are payable at the beginning of each financial year.  Instalments are due four times a year.

1st Instalment On or before the 30th day after the issue of the rate notice or 31 August 2023 (whichever is the latter)

2nd Instalment 31 October 2023

3rd Instalment 31 January 2024

4th Instalment 31 March 2024

Change of Address

If your current address is different from the address on your rates notice, please advise the Rates and Property Officer in writing immediately.
