Recycling Collection

Council provides a fortnightly recycling collection service to most households in the Derwent Valley.

Your Recycling Bin (Yellow with Yellow Lid) should be placed kerbside each fortnight along with your existing bin on your collection day.

Please ensure that your bins are placed at least 1 metre apart at the kerb.

When is recycling collected?

Recycling collection occurs on a fortnightly basis on either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday depending on your location.  You can check what week your recycling will be collected by viewing the 2026 Recycling Calendar.

What can be recycled?

  • Paper and Cardboard - flatten boxes and place all cardboard and paper LOOSE in the bin.  Do not jam boxes into your bin as they may cause blockages when being emptied;
  • Glass Bottles and Jars - any coloured glass, bottles or jars can be recycled;
  • Aluminium and Steel cans
  • Washed Juice and Milk cartons
  • Plastic Bottles and containers - Clear and coloured plastic bottles and jars;

Please rinse all containers and remove lids.
