Healthy Together grants support communities to come together to collaborate and work towards a shared vision for health and wellbeing using a place-based approach. The grants are for $300,000 over three years for each community. The grants are funded by the Tasmanian Department of Health through Healthy Tasmania.
The Derwent Valley was chosen as a priority area for the grant, based on existing programs and funding in our community, need, and a willingness and interest in working together to make a difference.
Derwent Valley Council was appointed to host the Healthy Together grant to manage the funding agreement on behalf of the community. Led by community, we will collaboratively be setting health and wellbeing priorities, looking at local solutions and testing them out over several years.
Project Scope
Communities can use this funding in many ways to improve local health and wellbeing. These grants are flexible, so communities can test ideas and adjust as they go. Funding can be used to build capacity, bring people together to problem solve and identify shared priorities, take action, connect existing efforts, harness local skills, and enhance community leadership. This grant is not for clinical service delivery.

COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part in the Healthy Together Community Workshops. Over 50 community members came together from across all areas of Derwent Valley to learn about the grant and explore how we can best prioritise and allocate the Healthy Together funding. Drawing on the strengths and assets already present in the Derwent Valley, we wrapped up the sessions with brainstorming ideas for action, where participants shared creative and practical pathways toward a healthier Derwent Valley.
