Covid-19 Information and Updates - Updated 1 July

To reduce the number of face-to-face interactions with the community and protect our staff and their ability to carry out ongoing essential services, the Derwent Valley Council Offices will reopen to the public from 10am - 2pm from Monday 1 June for essential visits only.

Council operating hours are still 8.15am – 5pm (Mon - Fri) and Council services can be accessed over the phone, by email or via our website. We encourage all enquiries by phone or email where possible.

This information includes support available to individuals, business and community organisations including grant funding and mental health support and where to access further information around the pandemic and Council services.

Refuse Sites

Peppermint Hill Refuse Site

Physical Address: Dean Street, New Norfolk
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday 9am – 3.30pm, Weekends 10.30am – 3.30pm (all year)
Summer Hours: Starting on the first Monday after the commencement of Daylight Savings.
Winter Hours: Starting on the first Monday after the completion of Daylight Savings Monday to Friday 9.00am – 3.30pm.

Please note that on days of a Total Fire Ban and or extreme high winds the Peppermint Hill Refuse Site will be closed

Residents wanting to access the refuse disposal area are required to present their current drivers licence or other identification with a Derwent Valley address on it.

Cars, utilities and cars with trailers will be able to access the area to dispose of domestic waste, green waste, white goods, e-waste, TV’s, metals and all other recyclable items.

Disposal of Refrigerators or Freezers - These must have the doors removed and a certificate from a refrigeration mechanic must be shown to the tip operator confirming removal of the gas unit.

Disposal of Car Bodies - Not accepted.

Drum Muster - Is conducted on a weekly basis (Thursday) in accordance with the refuse operating hours listed above. To arrange an appointment please contact the Landfill Operator on 0410 071 798 or alternatively contact Councils Technical Officer on (03) 6261 8509.

National Park Waste Transfer Station

Physical Address: Gordon River Road, National Park
Operating Hours: Wednesday and Saturday 11am - 12.30pm
