Waste Management Strategy

Council has developed a Waste Management Strategy to guide our approach to waste management, including delivery of waste services to the community, managing environmental impacts from waste, and ensuring that we are meeting our obligations under the legislation.

The Strategy defines a series of actions that the Council will progress to achieve a number of waste management goals and objectives.

RECREATION PLANNING AND OPEN SPACE STRATEGY

There is a high demand for outdoor recreation in the Derwent Valley’s scenic countryside, forests and river valleys, from residents and visitors.

Council have developed a strategic document that represents the needs of the community to determine:

  • acquisition and disposal of public open space;
  • the prioritisation of open and play spaces and a framework for their future development; and
  • a framework within which sport and recreation providers within the municipality and the general public can realise the best possible uses of public open space and Councilowned resources.

The Strategy contains opportunities to enhance participation, liveability, health and wellbeing for residents and visitors to the Derwent Valley and will guide Council in making budgetary decisions in relation to upgrades to, and maintenance of, Council’s recreation, play and open spaces.
