Recreation opportunities and how they meet the needs of the local demographic.
Council have developed a strategic document that represents the needs of the community to determine:
- acquisition and disposal of public open space;
- the prioritisation of open and play spaces and a framework for their future development; and
- a framework within which sport and recreation providers within the municipality and the general public can realise the best possible uses of public open space and Councilowned resources.
The Strategy contains opportunities to enhance participation, liveability, health and wellbeing for residents and visitors to the Derwent Valley and will guide Council in making budgetary decisions in relation to upgrades to, and maintenance of, Council’s recreation, play and open spaces.
