Footpath Obstructions

In recent times the Derwent Valley Council has noticed the increasing number of gardens and hedges protruding over footpaths and pathways.

Some of the hazards for pedestrians include overhanging branches from hedges, thorny bushes, and foliage which collects on the walkway and becomes slippery.

Overgrowth also reduces the amount of pedestrian walkway, making it particularly difficult for those who are disabled.

You also need to think of your adjoining neighbours:-

Unfortunately some gardens also pose a potential to encourage vandalism.

Council asks property owners to ensure hedges and gardens are trimmed and kept away from pedestrian footpaths.
